New covers this week

This color combo is so lush, I had to call it "tapestry." This plus two other new solid combos are stocking this Friday the 29th at fishnoodles (noon EST).
There are also four prints per size, including the ever popular "busy bots."

If a newborn is in your future, there is a busy bots, or "Mr. Roboto" collab at Bitty Fluff Friday @ noon. Plus 4 more newborn print covers stocking there.
Now, for the fine print - my favorite gusset elastic has been discontinued. Wah! Many of these covers have the same type of gusset elastic except that it is 1/8 of an inch wider. And for the future I've found a very similar narrow gusset elastic, so in case you notice a little difference, that's why. I'm also waiting on more satin tags to ship to me (see, I wait on fluffy mail too!). I didn't want to stop just for the sake of tags, so these covers have a woven fishnoodles tag sewn at the upper back, rather than the satin tag. That's all, just little changes that happen with handmade goods.

Changes coming to diaper covers

I like makin' stuff. That's my basic approach to life. The thing is, it is hard for me to keep making the same stuff over and over and over. So, on two different occasions in 2009, I spent months "behind the scenes" attempting to outsource the sewing of my diaper covers. And I learned that no one can make them quite like I do.
That's not a bragging statement, but it has to do with how they are made. I know by feel how I stretch the binding around the edge of the cover to have them come out pretty consistently. Now "feel the stretch" may work for yoga, but it's not so great for giving instructions to other stitchers. They need measurements. Easing binding around curves is another thing that never translated well. I gave up on outsourcing because the results we not up to my standards.
As time has gone by, I am still feeling the need to get some help with sewing. I'm going to be working on different methods for constructing the covers, so that they can be reasonably made by someone other than me. That means they will change. Not in the next month, but probably after that.
I hate to mess with a much-loved item, but this mama is getting rather burned out on the repetition. Of course my goal is to come up with something at least equally good, maybe even better. I'll be looking for testers in the next few months. If you might be interested, please contact me with your little one(s) ages and I'll fill you in on the details.
If you are a fan of the covers exactly the way they are now, you may want to stop by at the next stocking or two. I've also put some currently stocked covers on sale.

Gettin' Bitty with it

Wondering what's up at fishnoodles this week? We're over at Bitty Fluff with the teeny tiny diapers and such. 8 newborn covers are stocked here. They go live on Friday the 22nd at noon, as usual. If you could see these in person they would make your ovaries ache.

One print that photos just don't do justice to is the delicate little pink & yellow vw cars print. The line art is so sweet and charming, and the scale of the cars is just right for a newborn cover. This would be perfect for daddy's little girl.
Looking ahead to next week, I'll be stocking covers in prints and solids on the 29th. Not sure how many that will be though - next week I also get to take a trip to visit the sewing factory that is going to start working on some Solo Flyers for me. I'm looking forward to meeting the people and taking a tour, and I hope to be able to snap a few pics to show you!

Time for Solo Flyers

43 new Solo Flyers are stocking Friday the 15th at fishnoodles. Yes you read that right - 43! I have been a hard workin' mama this week, if I do say so myself. Lots of prints and solids to check out, though all the photos and listings aren't up yet, I need a bit more time for that part. Please stop by Friday morning and see if there is one that catches your fancy.

Diaper covers this week

A few new print covers are stocking Friday January 8th at Fishnoodles! If you are into butterflies, retro cars, chickadees or the popular chocolate ice giraffes, that's what you'll find in front snap, especially in medium through large. Alternatively, for the urban chic baby, there are all-black midnight Wrapper (side snap) covers.

For those expecting or needing a baby gift, some more newborn covers will be up at Bitty Fluff at noon. These are so cute and tiny! Yet with all the same detailing as the larger Snappers - and an umbilical scoop - they really make you say "Awww!"
